Garcia Names His Next targeted Opponent

WBC Welterweight Champion Ryan Garcia says that Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson are ducking him, so he is turning his attention towards a fight with Teofimo Lopez.

Garcia, fresh off his dominant WBC Welterweight Title win over Mario Barrios on February 21, claimed that “The Takeover” is the only name willing to step up to the plate at 147 lbs. Garcia’s comments come after Oscar De La Hoya publicly called for a Haney rematch, while Devin’s camp insists that any fight must happen after a Rolando Romero bout, with suggestions Haney will box him on May 30. 

Following Stevenson’s victory over Teofimo Lopez on January 31 to become the WBO Junior Welterweight Champion, Garcia initially called for a unification. However, he now claims Stevenson is “scared of the power” at welterweight, stating he does not want any rehydration clause for that fight. The potential Teo-Ryan fight hinges on Lopez’s willingness to move up from the junior welterweight (140 lbs) division.

“I don’t have many options. Devin Haney ducked me. Shakur just ducked me. So, I got one option,” Garcia said
