Garcia Ordered To Fight Commey

In a report from ESPN, WBC/IBF lightweight champion Mikey Garcia has been ordered to defend his newly won IBF crown against Richard Commey in his next fight.

Garcia won the IBF title when he defeated Robert Easter Jr. in late July. This is the second time in 2018 that Garcia would be given a mandatory opponent by the IBF, who ordered Garcia to face Ivan Baranchyk earlier this year. Garcia would decide to vacate the title he won from Sergey Lipinets and remain at lightweight.

It is unknown if Garcia will vacate another IBF title, as he’s been focused on a fight with welterweight star Errol Spence Jr, later this year. Garcia and Commey have until August 30th to negotiate, or a purse bid will be scheduled.
