Garcia Puts Davis On Alert During Undercard Media Workout – ‘I Am A Fighter, That Dog’

The much-anticipated bout between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia is set to take place on April 22nd, 2023, from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas available right here on pay-per-view.

The co-main event features WBA Super Middleweight Champion David Morrell Jr going toe-to-toe with Yamaguchi Falcao.

Meanwhile, a highly-awaited rematch between Gabriel Rosado and Bektemir Melikuziev will also feature.

With that being said, the undercard media workout took place at the MGM Grand Casino Floor, Las Vegas, on April 19th, 2023.

A special appearance from Garcia followed, meanwhile, Tank Davis and David Morrell Jr. were absent. Here is the run down of what happened.

Ryan Garcia

Garcia arrived in buoyant mood, showing the confidence that will be needed if he is to overcome Davis, in what will be the biggest fight of his career, as both fighters put their undefeated records on the line.

But any chances of Garcia being overwhelmed were put to bed with his nonchalant approach.

“I’m grateful for all of you guys even if you are going for Tank…It’s such a blessing. I know you guys took time out of your day.”

On his perception: “They say he doesn’t look like a fighter. He don’t have that dog in him. I don’t care about words. I know what’s in my heart. I know who I am. And I know that I am a fighter.”

On the pressure: “I’ve been fighting since I was 7-years-old. It’s not something that I’m not used to. I’ve fought some of the best fighters my whole life.”

Calvin Ford

As Tank Davis was absent, the former’s coach, Calvin Ford, talked up his fighter’s chances in the biggest fight of this year so far.

On keeping Davis eye out of the limelight: “Look at this. This is different from what we usually go into.”

On the moment: “I can’t believe it. We got the great Joe Goossen. We got Garcia’s dad, he’s [from] day one. I’m Tank’s day one.”

Vito Mielnicki Jr.

In his last bout, Mielnicki defeated Omar Rosales with a fourth-round stoppage as he gears up to face Jose Sanchez Charles.

On the fight: “We’re ready to put on a dominant performance and show the fans what we’re capable of.”

What to expect: “Expect fireworks. We’ve been working hard in the gym. We’ve been improving on our skills.”

On Davis vs. Garcia: “This is definitely what boxing needs. A lot of big fights, young guys willing to put their ‘0’ on the line.”

Prediction: “Im so excited and the whole world is going to see a Mexican warrior…I promise you that.”

Bektemir Melukuziev

Melikuziev will be looking to overturn his defeat to Rosado in the rematch.

On the fight card: “It’s an honor for me. That’s the fight I’ve been asking for. That’s the fight I got on the biggest card of the year. That’s a dream come true. I’m ready.”

What can fans expect: “One thing I can promise you is that it’s going to be an exciting fight. It’s going to be a banger. It’s going to be a war.”

Yamaguchi Falcao

He was a last-minute replacement to face David Morrell Jr., which has given him an unexpected world title opportunity.

On the chance: “This is for a world title opportunity. This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and I want the fans to see the kind of fighter I am.”

On what victory means: “Absolutely, [I could face Canelo or Benavidez]. The more I work, the more I crave it… I want Canelo, whenever, wherever.”

Elijah Garcia

Garcia is in impressive form, as he beat the undefeated Amilcar Vidal in his last bout with a fourth-round stoppage.

On the event: “It’s a blessing. I gotta thank God for it, and I can’t explain the feeling.

On dealing with the pressure: “I don’t know. I’m still learning. This is a huge card right here, and I’m so happy to be a part of it. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.”

What to expect: “It’s gonna be a war, and I believe somebody is going to be knocked out.”

Gabe Rosado

Rosado will be looking to recreate his 2021 knockout victory over Melikuziev.

On getting the win again: “I’m taking it as a challenge, and I’m taking it kind of personal that you know he thought it was a fluke.”

On the motivation: “It’s in my blood, in my DNA. I’m a fighter in life and in the ring.”
