Garcia Sends Davis Ominous Warning During Media Workout-‘Destroy Him, He’s Done, Nap Time’

Ryan Garcia organized a media workout in Los Angeles before his much-anticipated fight against Gervonta Davis from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 22nd, 2023.

Garcia is considered one of the most popular and sought-after boxers, which has partly been due to his crossover appeal.

‘King’ Garcia’s social media presence, with over 9 million followers on Instagram, coupled with his undefeated record, has put him almost on the precipice of boxing.

And victory over Davis will do just that, as the winner is likely to become the ‘face of boxing.’ With that being said, this is what Garcia had to say.

Garcia’s Comments

On fighting Tank: “It means a lot to me, it means everything. It’s been a moment that I’ve been envisaging for so long.

“It’s the only thing I wanted. [To] defeat Gervonta Davis and to destroy him and just to end everything that he’s ever worked for. He’s done, nap time for Gervonta.”

On the challenge: “It’s a huge fight. It could really change the trajectory of the sport and inspire young fighters to get it on now.

“People are gonna love you. They’re gonna see that you went out there and you fought the best, and you gave it your all.”

On his weapons: “Nap time with either the right or the left, so it doesn’t matter. I think he’s just terrified of the left hook.

“I think once he hears that in his dreams, he just starts shaking in his boots, so that’s just one trigger word for him.”

Garcia’s Skills

Garcia is known for his left hook, especially as a counter. This may be key to beating Davis, given Garcia’s height and reach advantage. And that is something he gave a glimpse of during the media workout.

While Garcia has been called out for being one dimensional, when it comes to his left hook, much has not been said about his right hand.

So much so that Davis seemed unimpressed with Garcia talking up his other hand, but the media workout may prove that Tank has other things to worry about.

Final words: “Just hope he’s been getting a good sleep. If not, he’ll be getting some good sleep, April 22nd.”

View Of Joe Goossen

If Garcia’s confidence failed to impress, then his trainer Joe Goossen had no shortage of superlatives, given that he had once become so close to signing the boxer at the age of 17.

It is only fitting, then, that things have now gone full circle.

On working with Garcia: “He’s got the speed, he’s got the power, he’s got the reach, he’s got the height. He believes he has a destiny. I believe he’s got a destiny.”

With neither fighter giving an inch, April 22nd will define the next superstar of boxing.
