Garcia Targets Spence For An August Fight

Ryan Garcia wants Errol Spence Jr. for his next fight in August despite his recent failed VADA tests.

Garcia is currently battling claims that he took PEDs after he tested positive for Ostarine twice. If found guilty, Garcia’s win over Devin Haney could be overturned, with a possible ban to follow. The boxer has been cleared of having 19-Norandrosterone, as he has requested his B sample for further testing. While he waits for the outcome, Garcia has turned his attention to a Spence fight.

They have plenty of history, having trained with Derrick James. Spence left, however, following his defeat to Terence Crawford. James and Spence fell out after the trainer alleged he was owed money. James sued Spence, stating he was entitled to 10 percent of Spence’s $25 million purse and PPV for the Crawford fight.

Garcia chimed in by telling Spence to pay what was due. That gave Garcia an incentive to fight, as he instructed his team to send Spence an offer. Garcia is jumping the gun since he could receive a ban. However, this is promo for a potential fight that will only get bigger if Garcia is cleared. James knows Spence’s game, which will help Garcia get a better tactical game plan.

Spence’s form is also not clear. He underwent cataract surgery over his right eye following the Crawford loss. Garcia possesses a destructive left hook that could damage Spence. The fight would no doubt sell out, with Garcia already targeting a date in August at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
