Garcia Vs. Haney Talks Stall

Negotiations for a Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney rematch reached a standstill, with the two clashing over the terms of drug testing.

Garcia (26-2, 20 KOs), the newly crowned WBC Welterweight Champion following his February win over Mario Barrios, is pushing for a July 2026 return to maintain his momentum. However, Haney is refusing to sign any contract, saying he wants drug testing to start now for a September fight. 

Following Garcia’s 2024 positive test for Ostarine (which resulted in a no-contest), Haney has remained steadfast that a rematch can only occur under a documented six-month clean testing cycle prior to the opening of a training camp. Ryan took to X to blast Haney’s timeline, accusing him of being afraid.
