Gastelum-Belfort Headlines Fight Night 107
It looks like Kelvin Gastelum is staying put in the middleweight division, at least for now. Gastelum will face Vitor Belfort in the main event of UFC Fight Night 107, which takes place on March 11 in Fortaleza, Brazil.
The matchup was first reported by Brazilian media outlet Combate.
Gastelum (14-2) last fought at UFC 206, where he defeated Tim Kennedy in his return to middleweight. The 25-year-old was forced to fight at 185 lbs. after missing weight for his planned welterweight bout with Donald Cerrone at UFC 205 in New York.
After demolishing Kennedy, Gastelum said that he believes welterweight is still his home but he would stay at 185 lbs. for the right fight.
Belfort (25-13) is on a two-fight skid since knocking out Dan Henderson last year. At UFC 198, Belfort lost to Ronaldo Souza by first-round TKO. He suffered a similar beating at UFC 204 in Manchester, where Gegard Mousasi finished him in the second.
At 39 years old, Belfort will risk suffering his first three-fight losing streak since 2005.
A lightweight bout between top-10 contenders Edson Barboza (18-4) and Beneil Dariush (14-2) has also been booked for the event.
