Gastelum’s Weight Troubles Continue
Six months is the amount of time Kevin Gastelum will have to wait before he can enter the octagon again. The NY State Athletic Commission has issued a suspension to Gastelum for not appearing at the UFC 205 weigh in. Gastelum was reportedly 10 pounds above the 171-pound limit for his UFC 205 welterweight bout with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Instead of appearing at the weigh-in to make it official, Gastelum tweeted about being unable to make weight and failed to step on the scale. While the suspension falls solely under the jurisdiction of New York, it is common practice for other state athletic commissions and the UFC to honor such suspensions.
New York State Athletic Commission confirmed with ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto of the suspension.
Here’s some news: Confirmed with NY State Athletic Commission it suspended Kelvin Gastelum SIX MONTHS for "failing to appear at weigh-in."
