Gennadiy Golovkin Demands A ‘Clean Sport’ At Grand Arrivals For Canelo Alvarez Trilogy Fight

In an interview recently, Gennadiy Golovkin appeared to be taking a dig on Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) when Golovkin demanded a clean sport.

“I have great memories from my last two fights [in Las Vegas against Canelo]. Come on, guys,” said Golovkin.

“I’m very happy to be here again to see you again, guys. It’s the same. Maybe one or two more dinners, more burgers, more tacos,” said Golovkin when asked what’s the difference in preparing to make weight at 168 compared to 160.

“Two more dinners per night. Extra tacos, five tacos. This is not just me. This is for sport. I want to bring back the boxing position.

“I want a clean sport. I’m a huge boxing fan. Come on, guys. I want to get back my position,” said Golovkin.

Golovkin’s comments have arguably made Canelo think about the ways in which he can KO the Kazakhstan athlete.

“I’m always 100% focused for any fight I go into, so that’s what I have in my head. To be 100% focused on this fight,” said Alvarez to iFL TV.

“It’s really important for me to have this kind of fight. For my legacy and for all these people here. So I’m really hoping I can put on a good show for the people that are coming here.”

Golovkin meets Alvarez for the third time on Saturday, September 17 in Las Vegas.
