Geoff Neal-Neil Magny Reportedly Set For August UFC Event

The last UFC card of August will feature two scrappy welterweight fighters.

According to ESPN and confirmed by MMA Fighting, Geoff Neal and Neil Magney will face off against one another on August 29. The UFC did not yet confirm the fight.

Magney (23-7) is on a two-fight win streak and is 4-1 in his last five fights. This would be his third fight of 2020. Back in March, the 32-year-old beat Li Jingliang at UFC 248 and three months later beat Anthony Rocco Martin at UFC 250. He missed fighting in 2019 due to a failed USADA test.

Neal (13-2) is considered a true rising star. Debuting for the UFC on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017, Neal has gone 5-0 with the promotion following a win against Case Waldon. “Handz of Steel” won three fights in 2019 against Belal Muhammad, Nico Price, and Mike Perry. He beat Perry via TKO at UFC 245 in December.

Magny is ranked 14th in the UFC’s welterweight rankings while Neal is ranked tenth. A win by either fighter may end up being a huge step in the right direction.

The August 29 UFC card will be taking place inside the UFC’s APEX Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event is expected to be former light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith v. Aleksandar Rakic.
