George Kambosos Feels ‘Proud’ Of Teofimo Lopez After His Comeback Win
It wasn’t long ago when George Kambosos Jr sent Teofimo Lopez crashing into the canvas before clinching victory via split decision.
However, Lopez remained at 135 pounds after this defeat and competed as a full-fledged super lightweight. In his first bout at the 140-pound limit, the 25-year-old bagged a victory over Pedro Campa on his return.
Even though Kambosos and Lopez haven’t had a sweet relationship out of the ring, the elder American fighter was quick to heap praise on his rival’s comeback.
“I and Teo always go back and forth,” said Kambosos to FightHype.com.
“I still go back at him when he brings up all of these excuses that he has but I’m proud of him. I’m actually very proud of him. To come back after the fight that we had shown that he’s a champion. I wish him all the best at 140.”
Lopez brutally stopped Campa in the seventh round and didn’t give his opponent any time to settle during the entire bout.
“His skills were evident. Campa was obviously a guy that they picked to build that confidence. Now does he have a lot of work to do for the bigger names at 140? Obviously, yes, but I’m sure he’ll be up to the challenge.”
