George Kambosos fight delayed again after Teófimo López contracts coronavirus
George Kambosos Jr. is fuming after his fight against unified lightweight world champion Teófimo López was put off for the second time as the latter tested positive for COVID-19.
The undefeated Australian boxer is upset with Lopez who apparently contracted the virus after visiting Las Vegas following his visit to Las Vegas last week to watch Shakur Stevenson take on Jeremiah Nakathila with the junior lightweight title on the line.
Lopez has drawn criticism from the boxing fraternity for not getting himself vaccinated ahead of his fight against Kambosos that was due on June 19 in Miami. The entire fight card has now been rescheduled for August 14.
Kambobos has come out hard against Lopez, saying that the boxer’s irresponsible behavior has left him devastated.
Absolutely devastated. I will be Champion. Thank you to everyone for the support world wide. pic.twitter.com/rpMgcyodT8

The Australian fighter said: “I’ve been away from my kids for 13 weeks, I flew my pregnant wife over to be by my side, I put every bit of my life into this camp with my team. I would have been undisputed champions this weekend, I know it and you know it. Your actions and decisions have affected not only our fight but everyone involved in this fight! Pure irresponsibility on your whole side.”
