George Kambosos Jr. is keen on facing the biggest names in the lightweight division.
The former unified champion lost his titles to the new-undisputed champion Devin Haney following back-to-back losses.
And as part of that process to rebuild himself back to the top of the division, Kombosos faces Maxi Hughes on July 29th, 2023.
Victory over Hughes could put him back into contention to face the biggest names if the other elite lightweights do not fight each other.
Shakur Stevenson, Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko remain the biggest names outside of Haney.
But the differences with promotional companies could prevent those fights from happening. And if that were the case, Kombosos could find himself being amongst the conversation.
And yet, Kombosos does prevent a high-risk, low-reward fight, as shown in his victory over Teofimo Lopez, which damaged the latter’s star power.
But for Kombosos, he is targeting the very best.
