Gervonta Davis’ Bold Request: Two Ferraris To Kickstart Haney Fight Talks In Saudi Arabia

Gervonta Davis has requested two Ferraris delivered personally to his door as a condition to begin talks over a Devin Haney fight in Saudi Arabia.

Davis’ comments were made in response to Turki Alalshikh wanting to stage the fight in Saudi Arabia this year. This would require some major hurdles to be navigated. PBC and Al Haymon would have to agree to allow Davis to fight outside the US for the first time since 2017 when he faced Liam Walsh in London, England. A cross-promotional deal will likely accompany this as the Saudi fights have aired on DAZN globally. But PBC’s new deal with Amazon Prime Video may complicate matters, given the need to deliver on the platform.

There is also the question of purse splits and the weight class. Davis classes himself as the A-side, as his team highlighted Haney’s poor PPV sales for his last fight with Regis Prograis, which reportedly did 50,000 buys. Davis, in comparison, sold over 1.2 million PPVs for the Ryan Garcia fight. Davis reportedly earned over $50 million for the Garcia fight, setting the benchmark for how much he would want to face Haney.

The weight class is also a sticking point as Davis competes at lightweight and often imposes rehydration clauses against bigger fighters, which Haney has ruled out now that he is at 140. But Davis’ latest demands have made things more difficult in a now-deleted tweet.

“They made me mad. If they want something, they got to send something to my door, like two Ferraris or something,” Davis stated

Davis’ demands may be a flippant remark, but the consensus on social media was that Tank wanted to avoid facing Haney at all costs.
