Gervonta Davis Eyes 140 Rematch With Ryan Garcia

Gervonta Davis wants to rematch Ryan Garcia at 140.

Davis and Garcia fought last year, as Tank stopped him in the seventh round with a body shot. Garcia blamed the 136-pound catchweight and ten-pound rehydration clause for hindering him. King Ry bounced back, beating Devin Haney in his biggest career win. However, the result has been questioned following Garcia’s failed VADA test for Ostarine.

The substance helps burn fat, build muscle and increase stamina. There is also the possibility of 19-norandrosterone in Garcia’s system, subject to an official announcement. Garcia has said he is innocent, with Davis backing the fighter. Tank was clear it made no sense for Garcia to take PEDs against a non-puncher. He also stated Garcia’s performance did not suggest he was on any PEDs. If Garcia is cleared, Davis wants the rematch at 140.

“145? He’s not even at 145. Why can’t it be at 140? I’ll fight him at 140,” Davis stated

Garcia may struggle to make that weight. After the Haney win, he targeted a move to 147 or 154. He revealed he could not make 140, nor is he willing to accept a rehydration clause. Before Davis vs. Garcia happens again, those hurdles must be addressed.
