Gervonta Davis is reportedly in contention to headline an Amazon Prime Video PPV in the UK for this summer.
Davis was initially linked with facing Frank Martin on one of PBC’s new PPVs on the network following their multi-fight deal after Showtime’s exit. Tank has been absent from the ring since last April when he stopped Ryan Garcia. Links with Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney have failed to result in a fight.
Calvin Ford ruled out putting Davis in against Stevenson as the financials did not make sense, nor would the fight appeal from an attacking and entertaining point of view, following Shakur’s performance against Edwin De Los Santos, which was heavily booed.
A fight with Haney also failed, with both camps seeing themselves as the A-side. Davis’ fight with Garcia sold over 1.2 million PPVs, but Haney’s bout with Regis Prograis allegedly did 50,000, leaving Davis with little incentive to make the fight unless the terms were heavily in his favor. There are also questions about the weight as Haney rehydrated to 165 for the Prograis fight after weighing in at 140.

That leaves Davis with a possible alternative of fighting in the UK. If he can secure a big British name at 135, 140 or 147—the possible options are Maxi Hughes, Conor Benn, or Josh Taylor. Hughes is coming off a loss to George Kambosos Jr., but most of the boxing community felt he should have been given the decision.
A fight against Benn in the UK is impossible since the Brit cannot box there due to his legal battle over his two failed VADA tests. But if that is resolved, the fight could sell. A Taylor fight at 140 could prepare Davis for Haney since the Scot is the former Undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion. But not everyone agreed with Davis fighting in the UK.
He’ll fighting either a washed opponents or an unknown one
