Gervonta Davis Reportedly In Talks For Comeback Fight Vs Former Unified World Champ

Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) is in discussions over a potential comeback fight against the former unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. (22-4, 10 KOs), according to the Australian.

Kambosos confirmed negotiations this week, while expressing frustration over a proposed rehydration clause.

Neither fighter announced a formalized agreement with the proposed weight limit, however the fight is reportedly being targeted for January at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Davis, 31, has not competed since retaining his WBA lightweight championship through a controversial majority draw against Lamont Roach in March 2025. A planned rematch failed to materialize, while a subsequent exhibition against Jake Paul was canceled amid domestic violence allegations against ‘Tank’. The WBA stripped Davis of its world title in January.

Kambosos, 33, has been inactive since suffering an eighth-round stoppage defeat to IBF junior welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins in June 2025.

The Australian previously held the unified lightweight titles after upsetting Teofimo Lopez in November 2021, before losing four of his past six fights including consecutive unanimous decision defeats to Devin Haney, and later suffering a stoppage loss to Vasiliy Lomachenko.
