Gervonta Davis Teases New Fight Date
Davis has not fought since defeating Rolando Romero in May.
Gervonta Davis has given another hint on when he’s fighting again.
Earlier this week, Davis tweeted: “Jan,” putting boxing fans in a frenzy on who he will be fighting next. And according to Boxing News 24, who cites some boxing fans, Davis might face former three-division champion Abner Mares.
The two were supposed to fight in February 2019, but Mares was forced to withdraw due to injury.
But Davis denied the rumor.
“[Your] source are sh–,” Davis wrote on Twitter.
Davis has not fought since May when he dominated Rolando Romero and defeating him by sixth-round technical knockout. He has yet to taste defeat in all 27 of his pro fights.
Davis has been linked more to a grudge match against lightweight contender Ryan Garcia who has been pursuing him since this past summer.
Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, has indicated that they’re nearing closing in on a deal for Garcia and Davis to fight. Last month, the two were reportedly settling for a fight in January.
Before those reports, Davis had teased that he was making a return in December.
