Gervonta Davis Vs. Isaac Cruz Rematch In The Works For This Summer
A rematch between Gervonta Davis and Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz could go down this summer, according to a recent report from boxing insider Mike Coppinger.
Davis (30-0-1) has been out of the ring since March 2025 when he fought to a draw with Lamont Roach Jr. He had a highly publicized fight scheduled with Jake Paul on Netflix for last November, but the bout was called off in light of the former WBA lightweight champion’s legal trouble.
Following the Paul fight being cancelled, Davis’ trouble with the law only got worse. Earlier this year, he was arrested in Florida on charges that stemmed from a nightclub incident involving a former romantic partner. The arrest came after a two week long collaborative search effort between the Miami Gardens Police and the United States Marshals Service.
Since falling short against Davis on the scorecards back in 2021, Cruz (28-3-2) has only improved in each outing, going 6-1-1 through his eight fights since the loss. Many realized in the first fight between the pair that ‘Pitbull’ is an excellent stylistic matchup to potentially defeat Davis, given his pressure-based boxing that doesn’t allow much space for the power shots needed to drop him.
According to recent reporting, the match is being targeted for this summer, but no exact date or venue has been revealed. But one key difference between the rematch and their initial bout is apparently it will be contested at 140-pounds unlike the 135-pound fight back in 2021.
