Despite Shakur Stevenson’s repeated promises that he can handle the fight against Gervonta Davis, the latter has expressed doubts that Stevenson will be a formidable foe due to his inability to finish fights inside the distance.
To this point, Stevenson’s lack of power has been compensated by his immense skills as a boxer. Even when facing Oscar Valdez and Jeremia Nakathila, who used constant pressure in their attacks, the 25-year-old was able to use his superior boxing to outmaneuver them and win clear-cut victories.
Even though Stevenson has demonstrated the capability to win without having to rely on his punching power, Davis believes that given the brutality of boxing, his resilience will eventually be challenged.
“He didn’t even have power at 126, 30, or none of that. How can you stop people that can actually hit? All that boxing, you gonna get hit. What you gonna do when you get hit,” Davis
The boxing community on social media, however, begged to differ.
