Davis is set to confront Garcia, a holder of the junior lightweight title, in a pay-per-view event taking place close to Davis’ home city of Baltimore.
When asked how he was feeling, this is what Davis had to say: “I’m just locked in through the holidays. I’ll do some stuff with my kids, but other than that, I’m totally committed to this fight and training for it.”
Davis knows that should he come out unscathed, then a lucrative match-up with Ryan Garcia potentially awaits in the wings. Other big names bound to be on Davis’ radar include undisputed champion Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson.
Aside from the battles inside the ring, this will also be Davis’ first bout following the conclusion of his contract with Mayweather Promotions.
Speaking about going his own way, Davis stated: “This just a test run right now, just on my own type of joint. But much love to Mayweather Promotions, Leonard, Floyd, all them guys.
“I definitely appreciate them, but I’m just doing my own thing now. I’m not saying in the future we can’t work together or anything like that.”
With Davis looking in prime physical and mental shape, the bout with Garcia could be another explosive match-up. And if you like what you have seen, check out Davis’ open workout session below
