GGG Near DAZN Deal, Potential Equity Included
Gennady Golovkin’s choice of platform is fairly final, as it looks like the former unified middleweight champion of the world will sign with DAZN.
After the closure of HBO’s boxing division, Golovkin has been courted by every major network and outlet, with DAZN considered the early front-runner due to their signing of Canelo Alvarez in late 2018.
Per a report from Mike Coppinger of The Ring, Golovkin would have a three fight deal with an option for another three dependent on performance, with the first fight netting Golovkin around $10 million for his first fight, and potentially $30 million for a Fall trilogy fight with Canelo Alvarez.
While his guaranteed amount of fights or pay may not be as rich as the deal presented to Canelo Alvarez, Golovkin would not only receive guaranteed dates for GGG Promotions events, but equity in the streaming service, something no one has gained yet in negotiations.
