GGG/Canelo To Air In Theaters

In a recent trend starting with the Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather fight, and something that takes one back to the days where fights at Madison Square Garden were aired on Closed Circuit to the “Fabulous Felt Forum” within the grounds of MSG, The September 16th middleweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is headed to theaters.

Nearly 400 theaters will be hosting the event per ESPN, and will be a partnership between Golden Boy Promotions and Fathom Events, who are known for airing live performances and events to movie theaters across the country.

The broadcast in theaters, which will begin at 8pm ET, will be exactly the same as the four-fight broadcast seen on Pay-Per-View, and while the price is unknown it will be presumably lower than the pay per view purchase price.
