Gilbert Burns: I Will Be The One That Will Finish Kamaru Usman
Gilbert Burns believes he will be the one to finish Kamaru Usman.
Burns is set to challenge Usman for the UFC Welterweight Championship. The bout will take place on February 13. It’ll headline UFC 258 inside the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Burns spoke to TMZ Sports and predicted a finish over Usman to capture the 170-pound gold (via BJPenn.com).
“I see a finish. I just can see a finish. I’m very dangerous. I got good weapons. I’m making sure everything is getting sharp. The last two weeks until the day of the fight I’m going to make sure everything is in control. Everything that I can control I will control. I’m going to sharpen every single tool that I have, and I believe I will be the one that will finish Kamaru on February 13. I don’t know (when), but inside the three or four rounds I think will be able to get a finish.”
Burns earned his championship opportunity thanks to a six-fight winning streak. He’s beaten the likes of former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley, Demian Maia, and Gunnar Nelson to name a few. “Durinho” hasn’t suffered a loss since July 2018.
Usman has only suffered one loss as a pro MMA fighter. He is currently on a 16-fight winning streak. His lone career loss came in just his second pro MMA fight.
Also on tap for UFC 258 is Chris Weidman vs. Uriah Hall, Alexa Grasso vs. Maycee Barber, Kelvin Gastelum vs. Ian Heinsch, and more.
