Gilbert Burns Is Ready For His Next Battle.

The last time Gilbert (Durinho) Burns fought was at UFC 264 against Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. All three judges scored that fight 29-28 for Burns.

Burns is one of the active fighters in his weight class and is trying to get his 3rd fight this year. He already had his title shot against the current champion but The Nigerian Nightmare managed to TKO him in the 3rd round, after brutal 2 rounds full of knockdowns.

He has been challenging #3 ranked contender Leon Edwards for a while. English fighter is undefeated in his last 10 fights (9 wins 1 NC). The last time he graced the octagon from inside against Stockton gangster at UFC 263. It was the first 5 rounder fight in UFC history, which was not for the main event or title fight. Edwards is likely to wait for his title shot after defeating the younger brother of Diaz’s Army, but because he left some question marks in the last minute of his previous battle, he might need to be more active to earn it.

Burns kept calling out several fighters after hearing nothing from Leon. One of the fighters who he has already called out is Jorge Masvidal. There is a lot of hype around “Street Jesus”, so it would be a great fight for Burns. Masvidal has lost his last two fights against the current champion, first via unanimous decision and the second one with the Brutal KO. Both fighters need to defeat the top contender to earn another shot to the title, so it would be a great matchup for both.

Burns called out Nate Diaz, too. It seems like Durinho is trying to fight against a fighter with lots of fans, which is a really smart move to earn your title shot.

Burns has already fought twice this year. In the first fight, he suffered a loss against Kamaru Usman via TKO. After, that he managed to come back and defeat Wonderboy. Since Dana White said that Covington is likely to be the next title challenger, Burns is trying to stay active and defeat more top guys in the division to earn his second title shot, so he keeps calling out fighters via Social Media until he gets his preferred rival.
