Gilberto Ramirez Criticizes Artur Beterbiev’s Performance Against Adam Deines
Gilberto Ramirez was not impressed by Artur Beterbiev’s performance against Adam Deines.
On March 20, Beterbiev defended his WBC and IBF Light-Heavyweight Titles against Deines. Beterbiev was the heavy betting favorite in the fight and many anticipated this to be a breeze for the champion. While Beterbiev did score the TKO finish, it wasn’t a cakewalk with Deines having his moments.
Ramirez, a former super-middleweight champion, had a lot to say about Beterbiev’s showing and it isn’t favorable (via BoxingScene.com).
“I expected a lot more from him (Beterbiev). I thought he looked flat and dull for the majority of the fight. It’s nice of him to temporarily hold my belts, but he should know that I’m coming for all the hardware and will bring the titles back to my people in Mexico.”
One man who Ramirez is impressed with is WBA (Super) Light-Heavyweight Champion Dmitry Bivol. Ramirez expressed his desire to be the one who hands Bivol his first pro boxing loss.
“I’ve always said Dmitry Bivol was the toughest challenge out there. which is why I want to make this fight happen. I know he’s got a fight coming up and hopefully, he stays undefeated so we can make the mega-fight this summer.”
