Gina Carano Returns In New Western Film With Donald Cerrone

Gina Carano is making her return.

But it’s not to the cage – as Ronda Rousey had hoped – instead, it’s to the big screen for a new Western film, “Terror on the Prairie.” It premiered on Tuesday on The Daily Wire.

Carano stars as Hattie McAllister, a pioneer mother who had been forced to defend herself and her children against criminals while her husband is away. Her husband is played by star UFC welterweight Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

“The release of this movie feels like closure of a particularly painful experience in my life,” Carano said.

“…This is a story about a family struggling with all the elements against them and then some, but they are fighting for their lives and dreams. Maybe that is something people can relate to these days.”

“Terror on the Prairie” is the fourth feature film by The Daily Wire. Carano was a producer alongside Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk.

Carano was cast aside by Disney in February and her role in “The Mandalorian” — a series in the “Star Wars” universe – after controversial posts on her Instagram stories. She played Cara Dune and was one of the main characters of the show.

But before her roles on the big screen, Carano rose to popularity through MMA.

She competed in EliteXC and Strikeforce from 2006 to 2009 with a 7-1 record. She retired after losing by TKO to Cris Cyborg.

Recently, former UFC superstar and champion Ronda Rousey said she would return to MMA only to fight Carano, but out of respect. Rousey credited Carano for being the one to get her into the sport.
