Jack Catterall (32-2, 14 KOs) and Shakhram Giyasov (17-0, 10 KOs) will fight for the vacant WBA “Regular” Welterweight Title on the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven card on May 23.
Following a technical decision over Harlem Eubank, Catterall most recently secured the WBO “Global” title in November 2025 by stopping Ekow Essuman in the 11th round. By accepting this WBA title fight, Catterall has pivoted away from a potential clash with Jose Ramirez to pursue a direct path to a world title. Having served as the WBA mandatory challenger since 2023, Giyasov has grown frustrated waiting for a shot at the full title held by Rolando Romero. Giyasov was originally in talks to face Raul Curiel for an interim belt in May. Instead, he has opted for the “Regular” title.
