GLORY 62 Live Results
Eight heavyweights will do battle in a one-night tournament with $150,000 in prize money on the line at GLORY 62, which takes place from Ahoy Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
The world’s leading kickboxing promotion held a drawing for the tournament last week, resulting in the following pairings for the quarterfinals: No. 1 Benjamin Adegbuyi vs. No. 8 Arkadiusz Wrzosek, No. 4 Jahfarr Wilnis vs. No. 5 Tomas Mozny, No. 3 Jamal Ben Saddik vs. No. 6 Junior Tafa and No. 2 Guto Inocente vs. No. 7 Mohamed Abdallah
Adegbuyi comes into this event on a three-fight win streak, with 2018 treating him well. Adegbuyi, GLORY’s No. 1 ranked heavyweight, defeated D’Angelo Marshall and Tafa to win a heavyweight tournament at GLORY 50 in February before scoring a unanimous decision win over Jahfarr Wilnis at GLORY 58 back in July. Second-seeded Inocente defeated Adegbuyi back at GLORY 43 in July 2017. He had originally defeated Junior Tafa in the GLORY 50 tournament but was forced to pull from the final against Adegbuyi because of a cut suffered in the bout.
After five straight wins between 2014 and 2017, Saddik received a title shot against Rico Verhoeven at GLORY Redemption, losing via fifth-round stoppage. He’d then lose to Wilnis at GLORY 53 before defeating Marshall at GLORY 59. Wilnis’ win over Saddik and loss to Adegbuyi this year were his first fights in GLORY since November 2016.
Mozny is 2-1 in the GLORY ring, last competing at GLORY 51 in March, defeating Daniel Skvor by decision. Despite his two losses at GLORY 50, Tafa has since rebounded with first-round finishes of Anthony McDonald (at GLORY 55) and Haze Wilson (at GLORY 58).
Abdallah has just one fight in GLORY so far — a 48-second knockout loss to Marshall at GLORY 41 in April 2017. Wrzosek, a Polish professional kickboxer, will be making his GLORY debut.
Luis Tavares meets Artur Golov in the light heavyweight co-featured bout of the evening, while lightweights Marat Grigorian and Christian Baya collide in the GLORY 62 SuperFight Series featured bout.
