Golovkin Slams Froch: “You Are Another Clown”
While Gennady Golovkin bides his time before a potential fight with Canelo Alvarez, the Kazakh middleweight is starting to look ahead to a jump to 168 lbs. Carl Froch, a retired super-middleweight, has been linked to a potential comeback if it means a fight with GGG.
The talks concerning a fight between Golovkin and Froch have been more than just fighters’ fantasy, as Froch’s former promoter Eddie Hearn and GGG’s promoter Tom Loeffler have joked about making a fight between the two.
Froch took to Twitter to respond to the discussions of a fight with Golovkin, saying that GGG has not fought credible opposition and that he is too small for the 168-lb. weight division.
@TomLoeffler1 @EddieHearn @GGGBoxing @wembleystadium he needs to fight somebody credible very soon, but as you have been, stay away from 168

Golovkin did not take kindly to the retired boxer’s insults. He responded on Twitter, using his favorite insult that he has reserved for other fighters that have disrespected him.
Hey you! @Carl_Froch don’t judge who is credible or not. You are another clown who talks too much without stepping up to actually do things

GGG sent a stern message to both his own promoter and Eddie Hearn as well, telling them that they need to stop teasing a bout between he and Froch when there has been no movement on an actual fight being made.
Hey gentlemen @EddieHearn @TomLoeffler1 without any actual progress please stop rehashing the possibility of this fight over and over

Golovkin (36-0) has other fights to focus on, namely a middleweight title defense against Danny Jacobs. That fight had been penciled in for Dec. 10, but negotiations stalled and the two are now set to fight in early 2017. Golovkin — and boxing fans around the world — are praying that the eventual GGG vs. Canelo fight happens by the end of next year.
