Gomez Says GGG Is Scared Of Canelo

With Vanes Martirosyan our of the way, after a second round knockout on May 5th; the only thing that stands in the way of a Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is a suspension and the possibly the pride of GGG.

Leading up to fight week, Golovkin claimed there was only a 10% chance that he’d face Canelo Alvarez again, after the Mexican star failed two drug tests effectively killing their May 5th showdown.

Per Abel Sanchez’ conversation with FIGHT SPORTS, both Golovkin and Alvarez’ teams have been on the phone with one another since Alvarez’ six month suspension began in April.  Eric Gomez told Bad Left Hook that Golovkin is being hyperbolic.

“No, we want GGG,” Gomez told Michael Woods.

“If it doesn’t get made, it’s not because of us, it’s because of them, and we’ll move on.”

With Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler not wanting to sit down with Gomez until after May 5th, Gomez could only hypothesize why Golovkin could walk away from an eight figure payday.

“Probably GGG’s afraid, he’s scared, he knows Canelo is younger, faster, stronger.”
