Good-Muhammad Set For UFC 249 In Brooklyn
Two rising welterweights are hoping to make a lasting impression on fans as they face off in Brooklyn. Lyman Good and Belal Muhammad are scheduled to fight at UFC 249 on April 18. This was initially reported by MMAJunkie before being confirmed by the UFC.
Coming off of a Performance of the Night bout against Takashi Sato at UFC 242 in September, Muhammad (16-3) is on a two-fight win streak. He is 6-1 in his last seven fights, last losing to Geoff Neal back in January. Overall, the 31-year-old is 7-3 with the UFC.
The former Titan FC Welterweight Champion faces a hometown favorite in Lyman Good (21-5, 1NC), who is on a one-fight win streak. The Harlem-born Good last fought in New York at UFC 244, beating Chance Rencountre via TKO. He is 2-2 in his last four fights and this will be his fourth fight in the New York area. Fighting in his own backyard, Good is 2-1 since MMA became legal in New York.
If it were not for a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency violation by Good in 2016, the two would have originally faced off at the first Madison Square Garden card, UFC 205. Suspended six months for an out-of-competition drug test deemed contaminated, Good missed out on history. Muhammad ended up losing to Vicente Luque via KO in round one.
UFC 249 takes place inside the Barclays Center. The scheduled main event is Khabib Nurmagomedov defending his UFC Lightweight Title against Tony Ferguson.
