Gracie Debuts Against Kato at Bellator 170

Ralek Gracie’s Bellator MMA debut will be against middleweight knockout artist Hisaki Kato. Following a report by Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times, Bellator officials announce Gracie will fight Hisaki Kato at Bellator 170 on Saturday, January 21st.

This is an interesting matchup for two reasons, the first being all of Kato’s fights have ended in either a knockout win or knockout loss, the second reason is Kato is a veteran of both mma and kickboxing, two martial arts techniques that do not favor Gracie. Styles make fights and this is sure to go one of two ways, knockout or submission.  Ralek Gracie is 3-0 in his mma career but that certainly is not enough time to sharped his standup and striking skills.  Gracie is a wizard on the ground and off of his back but the odds of him taking down a seasoned mma pro like Kato is unlikely.

Bellator is not wasting anytime, just one month after signing Gracie to they scheduled a fight for him against an opponent in Kato that is anything but a warm welcome into the Bellator promotion.  Hisaki Kato is having a strong 2016, he has won his last mma match by knockout and his last kickboxing match by knockout all under the Bellator banner.
