Haga Pulled From National Championships

Following an injury suffered while competing at the Grand Slam in Dusseldorf earlier this year, Ryunosuke Haga has been pulled from April’s National Championships.

Haga, who won the world championships in 2015, may lose out on September’s world championships in Baku, due to the national championship being a qualifier for the event with his second shoulder injury in his career, the first being in 2012.

JudoInside claims that there is an outside chance that Haga may be able to sneak in under a similar protection given to fellow Judoka Adam Wolf. That exception may not be needed as Haga’s injury, a separated shoulder, may force him to sit out of the world championships anyway due to recovery time.
