Hakuho Tops Rankings Heading Into Spring Basho

When the rankings were released on Monday, Hakuho is at the top of the heap as he looks for his 42nd career championship at the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament.

Only two yokozuna will enter the March tournament as the top of the JSA rankings, the first time since 2014. Kakuryu and Hakuho will be the only yokozuna who will walk into the 14 day tournament from the Edion Arena in Osaka.

This marks Hakuho’s return to the ring after a 10-4 record in January, where the grand champion lost his final four matches before withdrawing the tournament.
