Hammer Wants Shields In “Biggest Women’s Fight Ever”
Following retaining her WBC and WBO middleweight world titles in her United States debut, Christina Hammer set her sights on Claressa Shields.
“It would have been better to get a KO,” said Hammer, who took a unanimous decision win over Tori Nelson on Friday night in Detroit. “I tried everything I could to get the knockout. She was tough. I hope the USA is good with this and I’m still the champ.”
“I’m really looking forward to fighting Claressa. She will try and fight me on the inside but my footwork and my reach will make the difference. The fight with Claressa will be a game-changer. It will be the biggest women’s fight ever. I would like to fight her at a neutral site.”
Nelson, who faced both Hammer and Shields, feels like the two time Olympic gold medalist would have the edge.
“Claressa is better,” Nelson said. “Shields has a jab and uses the ring. Claressa stands there and wants to fight. She has all the punches. Hammer only has one.”
Following Shields unanimous decision victory, Hammer would take to the ring with her entourage and face off with Shields.

Following the confrontation, Shields would take to Twitter and call out those who claimed that she lacked “class” for talking back to the German fighter.
Lol so y’all telling me, you have never witnessed two girls talk trash to each other in a ring??? Hmm maybe that’s what the sport is lacking! Don’t try and put me inside of a box and talk about class! Because if that’s the case a lot of male fighters don’t have class! 🤷🏽♀️
