Haney Claims Gervonta Davis’ Team Reached Out

WBO Welterweight Champion Devin Haney (33-0, 25 KOs) says WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis’ (31-0-1, 29 KOs) team has made contact about a potential fight.

“His team reached out! We might just end up fighting,” Haney

The two spent years circling each other while competing in and around the lightweight division, with frequent callouts. Haney became the undisputed lightweight champion in 2022 while Davis eventually secured the WBA belt once Haney vacated.

The timing adds another layer of intrigue. The WBO is pressing Haney toward a mandatory welterweight title defense against Keyshawn Davis, while talks over a 144-pound catchweight fight with Shakur Stevenson continue, and Ryan Garcia has publicly called him out for a rematch.

A fight with Tank would likely sit at the top of that list financially if both sides can reach a deal, but the weight could be an issue with Tank’s highest weight class being 140.
