Haney Ready To Fight The Big Dogs

Stepping on to the scale on Thursday, Devin Haney set his fate to battle for the interim WBC lightweight championship.

The undefeated Haney will face off with fellow undefeated fighter Zaur Abdullaev, who plans to “shock the world” the same way Dmitry Pirog did when he knocked out Daniel Jacobs in 2010.

“This is a totally different (time),” Haney explained following Wednesday’s press conference. “No disrespect to Danny Jacobs—who is a great fighter—but I’m a totally different monster than whatever happened five years or however long ago it was.”

“I know Zaur Abdullaev is going to come, he’s going to bring a great fight and bring his all,” Haney said of the fight to become the mandatory challenger to unified lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko. “I’m going to put on a great fight and show everyone I’m ready for the big dogs.”
