Haney Title Defense Ordered

WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) has been ordered to make a mandatory defense of his title against his mandatory, Keyshawn Davis (15-0, 10 KOs), with the WBO giving both sides 20 days to reach an agreement before the fight proceeds to purse bids — a process that would see Haney receive a 75/25 split in his favor.

Haney has spent months pursuing high profile match-ups including a unification bout with WBA champ Rolly Romero and a marquee showdown against junior welterweight champ, Shakur Stevenson. However, since those fights failed to materialize, Haney must now face Davis or be stripped of his WBO belt.  Keyshawn won back-to-back fights at 140 against Jamaine Ortiz and Nahir Albright before electing to jump to 147. A win would make Davis a two-weight world champion, having previously held the WBO belt at lightweight.
