Haney Vs Garcia Will Take Place At Brooklyn’s Barclays Center

Oscar De La Hoya has said Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia will fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Haney defends his WBC Junior Welterweight Title on April 20, which he acquired after beating Regis Prograis in a one-sided unanimous decision last December. Garcia enters the fight with an eighth-round knockout over Oscar Duarte, his first fight under Derrick James.

Haney and Garcia got the fight over the line after Ryan initially wanted to face Rolando Romero, only for talks to break down. As the deal is in place, the venue needed sorting. Their primary preference for Las Vegas was not possible, which could prove a huge oversight in how much the fight delivers at the gate.

But since it will likely be a PPV event, that will help generate the big purses both fighters are demanding. The last fight at the Barclays Center occurred in 2022 when Deontay Wilder stopped Robert Helenius with a first-round knockout. Their press tour begins at the Palladium Times Square in New York on February 27. This is followed by another presser at the Avalon in Hollywood, California, on February 29.
