Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) has shut down talk of an imminent fight with Devin Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) at welterweight, insisting he still considers himself a lightweight and that genuine negotiations between the two camps never materialized.
“I just don’t think like right now I’ll be fighting at 147. I feel like that’s going to come in the years to come. I feel like 47 will be my last weight class. Then I look at a guy like Devin — they could act like, ‘Oh, well, when you get to 47, he might be going to 54.’ I don’t see it,” Shakur
Haney’s father Bill recently stated that Devin would only fight Stevenson at 147 pounds and had no intention of moving back down in weight, with the two sides appearing far apart on the terms of a potential matchup.
