Haney could now have his next opponent lined up earlier than anticipated, with a welterweight title unification bout reportedly under discussion.
Talks have reportedly started with Haney’s team over a potential October clash against IBF welterweight champion Liam Paro (28-1, 16 KOs) in the United States.
Haney’s plans shifted significantly in recent days after Shakur Stevenson publicly ruled out a long-discussed showdown between the pair.
Paro claimed the IBF welterweight title in June and presents Haney with the opportunity to add a second belt at 147 pounds.
The fight would match two reigning titleholders in a unification bout, giving it major significance within the division.
