Hardy vs. Vincent 2 Added To October HBO Card

HBO’s next, and potentially final, boxing card will now air a women’s world title.

The October 27 HBO Boxing card from Madison Square Garden will now broadcast the rematch between Heather Hardy and Shelly Vincent for the vacant WBO women’s featherweight title, making the telecast a live tripleheader.

Hardy spoke with Michael Woods to talk about the fight being on television and even thought she was going to be in trouble when she contacted Peter Nelson of HBO Sports about possibly putting the fight on the network. But when she found out the fight will be televised, she said she was elated. As far as expectations for the fight, Hardy said she wants to steal the show on October 27.

“I will make sure I do and settle for nothing less,” Hardy said.

This is the second time ever HBO will televise a women’s boxing match live. The first one took place in May with undisputed women’s welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus defeating Kali Reis by unanimous decision to retain her titles. That fight was the co-main event fight to Gennady Golovkin’s unified middleweight title defense against Vanes Martirosyan.

The other two fights on the card are a WBA super featherweight title fight between Alberto Machado and Yuandale Evans and Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF middleweight title.
