Harrison-Charlo II Booked for June 23
Jermell Charlo lost his undefeated record and WBC Light Middleweight Title to Tony Harrison back on December 22 in a controversial decision.
But Charlo will now have the chance to gain his belt back and avenge the loss, as the two will meet in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) Fox card on Sunday, June 23. The rematch was announced during the Danny Garcia vs. Adrian Granados PBC broadcast on April 20.
No location or venue has been announced as of yet, but sources tell Boxing Scene the fight could end up in either Charlo’s home state of Texas or in California.
Charlo won the championship back in May 2016, and he made three defenses against Charles Hatley, Erickson Lubin and Austin Trout before the loss to Harrison. Charlo, whose twin brother is interim WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo, was 31-0 before the title loss.
The title win against Charlo was Harrison’s fourth straight win. Prior to the streak, he fought Jarrett Hurd for the then-vacant IBF Light Middleweight Title, getting stopped in nine rounds.
