Has Bellator Reached Out To Brock Lesnar?

With Brock Lesnar reportedly being a free agent, has Bellator reached out?

It’s no secret that Lesnar is one of the biggest stars to dive into the world of combat sports. There was a lot of speculation as to how he would fare in the UFC. While he was in the WWE as part of the pro wrestling scene, Lesnar is a legit athlete who had immense success in Division I wrestling. He ended up capturing the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Lesnar has been enjoying a lax schedule with WWE in more recent times but he is reportedly a free agent. PWInsider has said that Lesnar couldn’t come to terms on a deal with WWE so his merchandise has been removed from the company’s shop page.

Speaking to MMAJunkie’s Nolan King, Bellator President Scott Coker addressed his interest level in Lesnar (h/t BJPenn.com).

“Listen, you know, the situation with Brock Lesnar is I don’t even know if he’s a free agent. I don’t even know if he really wants to fight. I don’t know what his situation is. But I reached out and talked to them and said, ‘Hey, if Brock wants to fight Fedor, we have the guy.’ It could be the fight that never happened, right? So we’ll see what happens and we’ll see if it’s something he’s really serious about. But only Brock knows.

“But if he was available, I’m sure we could make a deal. I mean, I’d go right to our CEO Bob Bakish and I would talk to him about it and say, ‘This is a great opportunity.’ I would bring Stephen Espinoza and David Nevens in the mix because it would probably be a big commitment. But that’s a fight that would be a big piece of business as well.”

Lesnar hasn’t competed in an MMA bout since July 2016. Lesnar initially scored a unanimous decision victory over Mark Hunt at UFC 200. That result was changed to a No Contest after Lesnar failed a drug test.
