Haye Willing to Face Joshua or Bellew
David Haye has been looking to fight for a third time this year as part of his second comeback into boxing, and he has stated he would be interested in fighting Anthony Joshua or Tony Bellew.
Joshua, the IBF heavyweight champion, had previously been in negotiations to possibly face Wladimir Klitschko in December; however, those plans look like they will not come to fruition. Haye said he would like an all-British showdown for the IBF title.
"Ideally, I’d like Joshua. He is the guy who, in my opinion, is the most dominant heavyweight out there currently," Haye said. "He is the guy who hasn’t put a foot wrong and he is the guy that’s making the most noise. Obviously being from Britain myself it’s the biggest fight. I’m in boxing for the biggest possible fights and getting a belt around my waist is exactly where I want to be."
Bellew made a case for his own to face Haye after retaining his WBC cruiserweight championship against B.J. Flores last weekend. Haye said the public has convinced him this fight would be fine too, as he stated he would probably knock Bellew out with a jab.
"A lot of people are stopping me and wishing that I smash him up so badly that he can’t keep screaming and shouting, so it is interesting," he said. "I didn’t think, the fact that he was a cruiserweight, that people would really consider it a serious fight but they are considering."
