Heaney Signs Agreement With Queensberry Promotions
One of the top prospects in boxing has made his way to Frank Warren’s team. Nathan Heaney has signed a promotional pact with Warren’s Queensberry Promotions.
“It is like a childhood or young adult’s dream for me,” Heaney stated in a release. “When I was a young amateur years ago and you had the dream of winning an ABA title and that sort of stuff, the whole idea behind it was so you could get signed by Frank Warren in the end.
“That was my goal all the way through. So it is like a dream come true for me to be signed by Frank Warren. He has always been the top dog and there is no-one else like him, so this is a dream for me.”
Heaney (10-0) is the current WBO Continental Super-Middleweight Champion. The 31-year-old made his professional debut in 2017. He fought four times in 2019, and last fought this past March, beating Christian Schembri via unanimous decision.
Before teaming with Warren, Heaney was with Black Country Boxing Promotions. He ended up winning the BBBofC Midlands Area Middleweight Title against Tom Stokes back in June. Heaney has been most known for his colorful entrances and entertaining videos, something he will look to show more of in the future.
“The video that went viral of me recently means people across the country recognize my name a little bit more, but I have also been performing well and I won the Midlands Area title against a good kid, while being matched really well,” Heaney went on to say. “So while I’ve got the entrance and all my supporters, luckily I can fight as well. It would be horrible to have all this support and not be able to back it up in the ring
With three wins via knockout, Heaney is waiting for his next fight. Due to the recent pandemic, he will have to wait a little longer for things to get back to normal. He is looking at plenty of fighters at 160, however, and will look to take them all down in order to make a true name for himself. With him along the way will be Warren and his entire team.
