Hearn Disgusted by Miller’s Failed Tests
Eddie Hearn is more than displeased with Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller after Miller failed three VADA tests this week, forcing him out of the planned June 1 title bout with unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden.
It was announced on April 16 that Miller tested positive for GW1516 in a urine sample collected on March 20. After his license to fight was denied by the New York State Athletic Commission the next day, Miller said he intended to appeal the decision.
Those plans, however, have been thwarted by the reveal that Miller failed two more tests — both conducted on March 31. A second urine test came back positive for GW1516 and EPO, while a blood test came back positive for HGH.
Miller promised he would be “vindicated” after the first tests’ results came out; however, since the two follow-up failures were announced, Miller expressed sorrow and promised to change things.
Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, however, is not so easy to forgive.
“I can confirm we have been notified of another failed test. I am disgusted,” Hearn told Daily Mail (via Boxing Scene). “You want to give someone the benefit of the doubt and that was very hard after the first one. To have a second one is disgusting. The sport can have no room for this.
“In a way I am happy — it shows the VADA testing works and we have kept him out of the ring. AJ will face any clean fighter and beat him.”
A new opponent for Joshua’s June 1 title defense, his U.S. debut, will be announced within the next week. Michael Hunter looks to be the favorite to fill in.
