Hearn, Matchroom Signs Daniel Jacobs

Former WBA Middleweight Champion Daniel Jacobs has reportedly signed a deal with promoter Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom Boxing for a multi-fight agreement with HBO.

Jacobs’ most recent bout — a middleweight title shot against Gennady Golovkin — was shown on HBO. Since then, HBO Executive Peter Nelson expressed interest in an exclusive deal with Jacobs.

Jacobs, who previously worked without a promoter for years, was planned to be part of a card at the Barclays Center in his hometown of Brooklyn on Nov. 4. Jacobs is still planned to fight this November, but an opponent is not known.

Hearn has represented several top British stars including current unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, IBF Super Middleweight Champion James DeGale, and former IBF Welterweight Champion Kell Brook.

Jacobs will be the first American fighter represented under Hearn, who is looking to branch out to the U.S. and open an office in New York.
