Hearn Ready to Pay Tank Davis Over $20M For A Fight With Devin Haney

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn is prepared to give Gervonta Davis over $20 million to make the Devin Haney fight.

Bill Haney confirmed Davis turned down $20 million, after which the latter responded by asking Haney’s camp to get in touch with Al Haymon to make the fight. This was also after Hearn’s Instagram message to Davis about wanting to discuss the fight, which Davis rejected. But Hearn has not given up hope of making the fight.

“We’ve got some massive offers for Gervonta Davis, but if he doesn’t want the fight, there’s not a lot we can do. I want to make an offer of probably more than that, but unfortunately, they don’t want to have the conversation. Not yet. Boxing is such a mad business where people listen to people. Devin, next year could fight Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, and Geronta Davis, and he would fight all of them. But someone wants $50 million. Someone wants $20 million,” Hearn said

A variety of factors have complicated the offer. PBC’s deal with Amazon Prime Video makes it more likely that they would want a fight on their platform. The Haney-Hearn offer is likely for a fight on DAZN. But since Tank Davis is considered a leading candidate for the first PPV on Amazon Prime Video, an offer to fight on DAZN makes no sense. There are also question marks over the weight class. Davis has shown a reluctance to fight over 135 pounds, especially without a rehydration clause, the latter of which has been ruled out by team Haney. So, a few issues still need resolving before a fight can be made.
